Wear Blue on Mondays in October

"October is National Bullying Prevention Month. All BCSD schools are invited to wear blue every Monday in an effort to promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion all week long. Schools and classrooms will also be doing lessons and activities to help prevent bullying. Brainstorm ways you and your student can show kindness, acceptance and inclusion each and every day.

  • Purpose:

    Purposefully hurtful behavior (physical or emotional)

  • Pattern:

    Repeated

  • Power:

    Involves an imbalance of power

  • Remember the 3 Ps:

    Purpose, Pattern, Power

How to Stop Bullying

  • Be assertive and stand up for yourself!

  • Report bullying to adults at home and school.

  • Bullying is a Big Deal.

  • There are strength in numbers. If you see someone playing by themselves, ask them to play with you.

What is a Big DealUpstanders

  • Shift from a bystander to an Upstander and stand up for others

  • Speak Out

  • Interrupt

  • Be a Buddy

  • Tell Someone

When teaching your children about bully prevention, remind them to “See it, Stop it, Report it.” When we teach our students what bullying is and how to report it we can make our schools safer places to be!
