Congratulations to the Bettendorf Community School District Employees of the 1st Quarter!

The Employee of the Quarter Award recognizes Bettendorf Community School District staff who inspire exceptional service and attitude. Recipients demonstrate a commitment to their job and/or school involvement above and beyond expectations.

Terri Conklin

Secretary A
Neil Armstrong Elementary

Terri keeps the office running smoothly at all times. She never hesitates to jump in and help regardless of what is needed. She takes care of the office duties and helps students work on their classwork all while being a detective to help sort out the countless situations that come up in a day. If any of us has a question that Terri cannot answer she finds the information we need. She works tirelessly to support our families and students by making sure all their paperwork is completed. The best part about Terri is she keeps her sense of humor through it all always with a smile on her face.

Kym Daurer

Social Studies Teacher
Bettendorf Middle School

Kym genuinely cares about all the students she encounters, not just the ones in her classroom. While monitoring the halls, she does so with a purpose, ensuring students' safety. She continues to build relationships with former students, encouraging them to succeed. She is steadfast, strong, and always willing to put in the time to make the people around her better.

Kym exemplifies what being a teacher is all about. We are lucky to have her working with our students on a daily basis.

Steve Meyermann

Carpenter
Operations

Steve is always very positive. He makes sure the work that needs done, is done well and will work for both the teachers and students that will be in the environment. He goes out of his way to make sure each person has what they need.

He tackles every task with enthusiasm and is always willing to help in whatever way for both the teaching faculty and the maintenance staff.

He brings such positive energy to the district and is truly a joy to be around. He passed his CDL license in the summer of 2022, and has jumped right into helping cover bus routes and trips. The staff and students at BCSD are lucky to have such a dedicated employee serving them.

Anne Myers

Paraeducator
Herbert Hoover Elementary

Anne has tremendous patience and is able to build relationships with students that not only benefit their education but also their socialization. She is always calm regardless of the situation. She is always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. She also invests so much of herself and celebrates along with her students as they overcome challenges. She always comes to work with a positive attitude and is a great role model for her peers. The staff and students are so lucky to have her at Hoover.

Mary Roberts

Custodian
Bettendorf High School

Mary is a tremendous employee on the custodial staff at Bettendorf High School. She exhibits an appreciated ability to be flexible and help out wherever needed. Mary is always in a cheerful mood. She does a great job maintaining her job focus on second shift while also being attentive to her kids’ events at BHS.

Ashly Richmond

Paraeducator
Grant Wood Elementary

Ashly truly leads by example. She is a positive adult in the building that students respect and trust. She is very consistent and sincere with students, and they know they can rely on her to provide them with whatever they need. Ashly is also a fantastic partner in education for our teachers. She is super motivated to help wherever she can, and takes initiative to start tasks in anticipation of what the teacher is going to need. Ashly is a fantastic paraeducator and I feel so fortunate to have her as a part of the Grant Wood staff.

Shelley Shaner

Paraeducator
Bettendorf High School

Shelley Shaner has been a valuable staff member at BHS for many years. She always has a smile on her face and is welcoming to everyone. She faced the learning curve of her new position head-on and has a great rapport with the library staff and students. Her positivity is stellar. She is always open to helping in any way she can.

Shelley is also a number one fan of our students. She doesn't miss a chance to take part in dress up days. You can see her in the stands cheering right along with the students.

Her passion for BHS shows in her efforts every day.
