The school year is off to a great start! We ask for your patience as our schools, students, and fellow parents relearn traffic patterns and processes. Please give each other grace as we work to improve busing as well as school drop-offs and pick-ups. We are so much BETTer when we work together!
Thank you for your patience!
Maximize Student Learning & Success
As we continue to think about our strategic priorities as a district, BCSD is committed to supporting efforts to reform beliefs, policies, and practices in an effort to maximize student learning and success. As a team, we will be working with Hanover Research to undertake a district-wide effort to better identify our priorities and gather stakeholder perceptions around performance related to those priorities. This is a long-term effort and our ultimate goal is to guide BCSD along a pathway that supports an organization committed to linking learning to life with Passion, Purpose, and Pride so that ALL students can make a positive difference.
As a first step, we must understand the diverse range of voices and experiences within our communities, then use this understanding as the cornerstone of our district’s strategic action plan. We would love to hear your voice and gather your perceptions related to strategic priorities and performance in our district.
You are being asked to participate in a Strategic Priorities and Climate Diagnostic Survey between September 8 and September 22, 2021. Please be on the lookout for an email that will include the link to the survey in your inbox on September 8, 2021.
We hope the data we gather from the survey will help inform the next steps in our continued our journey towards building a more aligned and focused system. We look forward to hearing from you!
Please contact Celeste Miller, Director of Communications - firstname.lastname@example.org or (563) 359-3681, ext. 3005 with any initial questions about the survey.

COVID-19 Status Update
Sept. 23 - 27
7 Individuals Tested Positive
In an effort to keep students, staff, parents, and the entire community aware of how COVID-19 is impacting our District, we plan to share as much information as possible while protecting the privacy of those affected. Following the direction of the U.S. Department of Education, we will release details by district and not by building to ensure the privacy of our students and staff. Please note we will update this data at the close of each week, and you will be able to view it on the District Return-to-Learn Webpage.
When the District is notified of a positive COVID-19 case through the health department, parent, or staff member, the building principal and nurse will begin to assist the health department in determining any individuals who may have been in close contact with the positive individual. For all close contacts, the health department and/or the school will be in contact with the family.

BHS CTE Program Received $50,000 Arconic Grant
The Bettendorf High School Career and Technical Education department was awarded a $50,000 grant to update the BHS machine shop and support students who have an interest in the fabrication industry. The CTE department will receive two Bridgeport mills equipped with all the current technology and tools that will enable students to manually machine metals to tight tolerances and mirror tasks used in today’s shops and factories. This will enhance the curriculum, ensuring that students receive direction and complete tasks that will give them skills and insight into metalworking careers.
This award was made possible thanks to the leadership of BHS Associate Principal Kristy Cleppe, Industrial Technology Teacher Dan Milburn, and BCSD Finance Director Brietta Collier.
