Greetings BCSD families,
I hope you are enjoying the summer months. It’s hard to believe that it is already the middle of July! I am emailing because we could use your input as we work to finalize our plans for the upcoming school year. There are two topics we would like your feedback on. Please see below for important information and opportunities to communicate with district leadership on the following two topics:
We have all learned over the course of the past year and a half that things can change month to month, and sometimes even day to day, with regard to the pandemic and the local COVID conditions. As a result of where things are at this time, families may have changed their preferences with regard to in-person learning for the 21-22 school year. In an effort to make sure that we have accurate information that reflects families’ current plans for attending school this year, we are inviting all BCSD families who are interested in enrolling their student(s) in remote learning to communicate their intent to us by completing the brief Remote Learning enrollment form below. This will help us determine how our available resources can best support the remote-learning needs in our community during the 21-22 school year. Please review the information below and complete the survey at the end if you wish to have your student(s) enroll in full-time remote learning for the 2021-2022 school year.
In determining what is best for your students(s), here are some important things to consider before signing up for full-time remote learning for the 21-22 school year.
Students most successful in remote learning are:
Students who opt to enroll in remote learning full-time will need to remain in the programming for a minimum of one semester once they begin. Students may withdraw from remote learning and return to in-person learning at the start of a new quarter throughout the school year by communicating their intent two weeks prior to the completion of the quarter in which they are enrolled in remote learning.
Decisions regarding the final format and delivery of remote learning will be based on the number of students who request full-time remote learning and the corresponding resources available to support such programming. For these reasons, remote learning may look different during the 21-22 school year than it did this past year.
IF YOU DO wish to have your student(s) participate in full-time remote learning for the 21-22 school year, please complete the form linked HERE by Monday, July 26th at 9 am.
If you plan to have your student(s) attend school in person, no further action is necessary and we will see them in class in August.
Additionally, we are seeking your feedback in regard to the use of the remaining funds available to our district through the American Rescue Plan, which included Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds. These funds are intended to assist schools to develop evidence-based activities and interventions that respond to students’ academic, social, and emotional needs and address the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on underrepresented student groups.
Funds available through ESSER will provide districts with the opportunity to make important, one-time investments, offer other time-limited programming, and spur innovative solutions to accelerate student learning in BCSD.
To help make the most of the remaining funds available to us, please complete the survey linked HERE to help guide our planning as we prepare for the 21-22 school year prior to 9 am on Monday, July 26th.
Thank you for all you do to support the students, staff and families of BCSD!
