Free Breakfast & Lunch FAQ

Dear Families,

The Bettendorf Community School District is excited to announce that the USDA has extended the Summer Food Service Program through the remainder of the school year 2020 – 2021. This means we will be able to provide FREE breakfast and lunch for every child between the ages of 1 - 18 years old through the last day of the school year. This includes students enrolled in the Bettendorf Community School District, as well as any other child aged 1 - 18 years.

Although your student(s) will be receiving free meals through the remainder of the school year 2020 – 2021, it is still important to complete an Iowa Eligibility Application for free and reduced meals if you believe your household would qualify. This information will determine if you qualify for reduced or waived school fees, and it also ensures proper funding for our school district. If you believe your family would qualify based on the household income chart provided below, please complete an application through your Infinite Campus parent portal. You do NOT need to complete an application if your student(s) have already been approved for free or reduced meals for the 2020 – 2021 school year or if your family does not qualify based on the chart below.

Why have things kept changing?

Our program has to follow certain rules set at the national level by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). We have made changes based on what is allowed by the USDA.
