Dec. 11 G.O. Bond Referendum - Does Not Pass

Dec 11, 2018

BCSD Community,

Thank you to all the Bettendorf Community School District residents who came out to vote in our G.O. Bond Referendum! The auditor's unofficial results show a total of 2,815 voters. Whether you voted for or against the referendum, we appreciate your participation in the vote. Although we are a community with differing opinions and perspective, we are a community that highly values education and cares deeply about our students.

The referendum was declined by voters with 35.6% of the vote for and 64.4% against the proposed property tax increase. At their December 17 meeting, the school board and administration will begin the discussion about the prioritization of the proposed projects with the sales tax and PPEL (Physical Plant and Equipment Levy) funds available to the district.

We remain dedicated to continuing to be a fiscally responsible district as well as provide our students with high-quality learning environments that last for generations. As our mission states: Educational excellence is the foundation of the Bettendorf Community School District. Working in partnership with the family and community, we will instill and nurture in all students the knowledge, skills, creativity, and confidence to pursue their dreams and to succeed in a global society.

Thank you all for your support of the Bettendorf Community School District and our students.

Respectfully,

Mike Raso
Superintendent
