Teacher Leadership & Compensation

TLC is designed to improve instruction, raise student achievement and, ultimately, close the existing achievement gap between and among all student groups across the district.

The Teacher Leadership & Compensation systems allow teachers to work in greater collaboration with colleagues and school administrators to improve instruction and increase student achievement.

Our district's TLC plan incorporates

  • 15 Teacher Leaders (Instructional Coaches & Curriculum Professional Development Leaders)
  • 32 Model Teachers
  • 27 House & Team Leaders

All told, 74 teachers provide an additional layer of support to the district's 325 teachers with the overall goal of improving instruction, raising student achievement and, ultimately, closing the existing achievement gap between and among all student groups across the district.

Instructional coaches and curriculum/professional development leaders work closely with classroom teachers to better meet the individual instructional needs of students. Teacher leaders serve as a model of exemplary teaching practice. Their classrooms are open for educators to observe how they implement district and building initiatives.
