Serving on a school board is a challenging job that requires leadership, vision and dedication. A school board member is entrusted with one of the most important responsibilities that can be assigned to a citizen: ensuring that Iowa schools help students reach high levels of educational achievement.

Four positions in the seven-member Bettendorf Board of Education will be up for election this November.

Bettendorf Board of Education Directors completing their current 4-year terms this year: Paul Castro (18 years of service), Michael Pyevich (4 years of service), Stacey Struck (4 years of service), Gordon Staley (4 years of service).

School board election dates have been changed to align school and city elections. Resulting from this alignment, certain filing deadlines related to school district elections have also changed in order to align with filing deadlines for city elections.

Key School Board Election Dates for 2019

Aug. 26: First day to file nomination papers with board secretary

Sept. 19: Last day to file nomination papers

Sept. 24: Last day candidates may withdraw; last day to file objections

Nov. 5: Election day
