The Donald A. Schafer Planetarium, in conjunction with the Quad Cities Astronomical Society, will be hosting an event to celebrate National Astronomy Day on Saturday, April 21.
The planetarium will be giving shows every hour, on the hour, from 1-5 pm in the evening. The QCAS will be exhibiting their telescopes and offering a free viewing at their Dixon location later that evening. Without rain, the telescopes will be positioned in the front lawn of the high school, with exhibits inside. With rain, the event will take place in the halls leading to the planetarium.
The events are free for participants, but planetarium shows are limited to the first 65 people who arrive.
