AlertNow allows the Bettendorf Community School District to send telephone, e-mail and text messages to parents and staff about school events, weather closures and emergencies.

The successful delivery of information is dependent upon accurate contact information for each student and staff member.  Please make certain that we have your most current phone numbers.  If your information changes during the year, please let your school office know immediately.

Receiving Calls Sent Through AlertNow
l Caller ID will display the school’s main number when general announcements are delivered. Caller ID will display 411 if the message is an emergency.
l AlertNow will leave a message on any answering machine or voicemail.
l If the AlertNow message stops playing, press any key 1-9 and the message will replay from the beginning.
Types of Messages Sent on AlertNow
Parents will receive two different types of messages routine notifications and emergency notifications.
l Routine notifications do not directly affect the safety of students, staff or parents; these calls include upcoming events, reminders and absenteeism. These messages display the school’s phone number on caller ID.  Sign in to AlertNow Access to adjust how you receive routine notifications based on catagory type:
  • General notification
  • Event reminder
  • Early morning closing/delay
  • Afternoon/evening release/cancellation
l Emergency notifications are used during critical incidents where a child, staff member or parent’s safety is in immediate jeopardy. These calls include lockdowns, evacuations and relocations. Emergency messages display “411” on caller ID so parents recognize the urgency of the call.

l  Choose Bettendorf CSD for District messages. District text/SMS messages will primarily be emergency and weather delays/cancelations.
l School offices will have the ability to send out non-emergency text messages as their administrator deems appropriate.

l Specify telephone numbers and e-mail addresses contacted by message category type:
  • General notifications
  • Event reminders
  • Early morning closing/delays
  • Afternoon/evening release/cancellations
l See the last 15 days of messages sent to phones or e-mails.
NOTE: Access creates a filter over information pulled from our student database. Changes made through Access do NOT transfer to our student information system.  Please contact your school to make changes student information on record with the school and district or send a message through Access requesting a change to student information.
Language Preference
You can receive your AlertNow messages in a language other than English.

Those languages NOT in bold will receive English text in the emails. This is due to the special character sets that are required for proper display of text in these languages.
